01. I have downloaded a video but can't play it? You likely don't have the correct codec installed. The player will need it to play the video! One of the best and most used players is VLC Media Player. It contains all popular video codecs and plays almost every video without problems. Alternatively you can use a codec pack like ffdshow or CCCP. to top

02. Which codecs do I need and where can I find them? XviD: One of the most popular codecs is Koepi's XviD. It is easy to use and recommended. x264: Another codec is x264-Codec. It is pretty new and can't be played by every player. It's only recommended for advanced video creaters due to its complexity. 03. How do I create preview pictures of videos? The easiest way would be to play the video with PowerDVD (or any player like it) and make some screenshots of the wanted scenes. A better way is to use tools like Image Grabber II. Image Grabber II: With Image Grabber you can create video screenshots very easily. It can handle the following formats: AVI, MPG, DAT, ASF, WMV, QT, MOV, RM, RMVB und VOB. - open the movie - at the wanted point you can create a screenshot with one click   (it is also possible to create a number of screenshots automatically) - the pictures will be saved either as single jpg-pictures or a collage Information like filename and -size, resolution, length and timestamp can be added optional. to top
